Elizabeth Ann Whipp was born about 1828.

She was the daughter of Samuel Whipp and Hannah Blackburn.

She was also known as Mary Elizabeth.

She was recorded in the census in 1841 at Finamore's Place, St John Horsleydown, Surrey, England.

She immigrated from Minerva on 4 Jul 1850.

She married Samuel Grant on 21 Mar 1853 at The Colonial Chaplin's house, Durban, Natal. Samuel was the son of William Grant and Sarah. He was born about 1829 at Morchard Bishop, Devonshire, England. He died on 4 Feb 1873 at Pietermaritzburg, Colony of Natal.

They had 3 children: Mary Jane Grant, John Tucker Grant and William Samuel Grant.

She died on 14 Oct 1897 at At Sea off Las Palmas aboard Doune Castle.
