Douglas John Nolan was born on 6 Jul 1917.

He was the son of Patrick William Nolan and Sarah Lewin.

He married Rhona Ross Munro on 12 Apr 1947 at St John's Church, Roodepoort, Transvaal, South Africa. Rhona Ross was the daughter of John Ross Munro and Edith Mary-Ann Smith. She was born on 5 Apr 1911 at Barberton, Transvaal, South Africa. She died on 5 May 2005 at Florida Clinic, Florida, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa at the age of 94.

They had one child: Living.

He died in Feb 1980 at South Africa.
