Biography

James Samuel Thring was born on 22 Jan 1838.

He was the son of Samuel Thring and Elizabeth Treleaven.

He immigrated from Sovereign from London and Plymouth on 24 Mar 1850.

He married Catherine Sarah Fuller on 14 Feb 1868 at Colonial Chaplin's House, Durban, Natal, South Africa.

They had 9 children: Edith Catherine Thring, Mary Elizabeth Thring, Alice Maud Thring, James Fuller Thring, Caroline Emma Thring, Treleven Rotheroe Thring, Mabel Jane Thring, Helen Gertrude Thring and Daisy Victoria Thring.

He died on 10 Jul 1911 at Berea Nursing Home, Durban, Natal, South Africa at the age of 73.
