He married Alice Maud Mary Drake. Alice Maud Mary was the daughter of Spencer French Drake and Emma Eliza Gillitt. She was born on 8 Nov 1861 at Sarnia, Pinetown, South Africa. She died on 19 May 1899 at Richmond, Natal, South Africa at the age of 37.
