He was the son of Otto Menge and Jessie Irene Campbell.

He married Eileen Whipp on 10 Jan 1934 at St. Boniface, Anglican Church, Germiston, Transvall, South Africa. Eileen was the daughter of Thomas Hodgson Whipp and Edith Ann(i)e Dearlove. She was born on 18 Apr 1915. She died in Mar 2010 at Kokstad, Natal, South Africa.

They had one child: Living.

He married Winifred Gwendoline Loxton on 13 Mar 1939 at Germiston, Transvaal, South Africa.

He married Grete Helbig on 11 Apr 1950 at Boksburg, Transvaal.
