Archibald Murray was born on 15 Aug 1819 at New Spynie (Bishopmill) MOR, Scotland.

He married Isobel Wilson. Isobel was the daughter of James Wilson and Isobel Stratton. She was born on 12 Dec 1824 at Newhills (Craibstow) Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She died on 12 Feb 1877 at Upper Kintore, New Brunswick, Canada at the age of 52.

They had 10 children: James Murray, Peter Murray, Isobel Murray, Archibald Murray, Alexander Murray, William Murray, John Murray, Ann Murray, Robert Cooper Murray and Mary Murray.
