He married Christian Philip on 26 Apr 1750 at Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Christian was the daughter of George Philip. She was born on 1 May 1722 at Keithhall & Kinkell, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

They had 3 children: Anne Wyness, George Wyness and James Wyness.
