Biography

James Watt Sanderson was born on 29 Mar 1822 at Prestonpans, Mid Lothian, Scotland.

He was the son of James Sanderson and Jane Turnbull.

He married Laura Selina Brain on 18 Sep 1849 at Parish Church of St Paul's, City of Bristol, England. Laura Selina was the daughter of Joseph Brain and Mary Anna Wright. She was born on 19 Jun 1810 at Bristol, Gloucestershire, England. She died on 22 Sep 1876 at Pinetown, Natal, South Africa at the age of 66.

He was recorded in the census in 1851 at Hardwick Terrace, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales.

He immigrated from Lady of the Lake (5th Voyage) to Durban, Colony of Natal on 28 May 1864.

His occupation was Appointed Constable for Pinetown (25 Jan 1873).

He died on 26 May 1906 at Preston House, Pinetown, Natal, South Africa at the age of 84.

He was buried in 1906 at St Andrew's Church, Pinetown, Natal, South Africa (Grave B10).
