She was the daughter of John Wishart and Helen.

She married George Birrell on 8 Mar 1793 at Elie, Fifeshire, Scotland. George was the son of George Birrell and Mary Simson.

They had 6 children: Helen Birrell, George Birrell, Mary Birrell, John Birrell, James Birrell and Jacobina Birrell.
