Leonard Bartholomew was born on 2 Aug 1918.

He married Laurel Dorothy Munro on 8 Nov 1947 at St John's Church, Pinetown, Natal, South Africa. Laurel Dorothy was the daughter of George Ross Munro and Ethel Constance Forrest. She was born on 5 Apr 1923. She died on 19 Nov 2005 at Hillcrest, kwa-Zulu-Natal, South Africa at the age of 82.

They had 3 children: Geoffrey Leonard Bartholomew, Living and Living.

He died on 22 Aug 2009 at Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa at the age of 91.
