David Ross was born on 20 Apr 1784.

He was the son of John Ross and Katherine Munro.

He married Isabel Munro on 30 May 1810 at Rosskeen, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. Isabel was the daughter of Alexander Munro and Elspet Ross. She was born on 25 Nov 1786 at Kilmuir Easter, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. She died on 5 Mar 1864 at Saltburn Village, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland at the age of 77.
